Training Supports for Youth in Foster Care
FWC provides training, assistance, and workshops for youth in foster care who are preparing for their future and enrollment in college. A FWC staff member can help foster youth apply for funds to help them achieve their education goals.
Navigating Application Processes
Understanding, completing, and creating a plan and calendar for submitting applications for college is an important step youth can take to stay on track after high school graduation. FWC can provide training and assistance on how to do this successfully.
Applying for Financial Aid
Applying for financial aid for the first time can be difficult and confusing. Every student has the opportunity to apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once an application has been submitted, it will be reviewed and students can receive grants, scholarships, or loans based on their financial need. The FAFSA form can be completed online (highly encouraged) or students can submit a paper application as soon as possible after January 1st; awards are made on a rolling basis until funds are depleted. For more information or to access the application, visit www.fafsa.ed.gov
